Challenge
- Scale quality content production while reducing costs and turnaround time.
Solution
- I tapped into my professional network to recruit a team of qualified and reliable freelance writers, and initiated an on boarding program to maintain a consistent look and feel for the brand.
Result
- I brought on 3 freelance writers to assist with content production, while I managed the team as an editor. I reduced costs by 33% to 50% per article relative to our agency model. I also reduced delivery time by 5 to 7 days per assignment.
Challenge
- Develop a content strategy that aligns with the company’s core business objectives and updated brand direction.
Solution
- Work cross-functionally to gather information on the company’s overarching strategy.
- Immerse myself in the company’s target persona(s) to brainstorm content possibilities.
- Create content pillars that speak directly to the consumer journey, but also elevate the company and brand presence.
- Leverage the content strategy and pillars as the basis for a go-forward action plan.
Result
- Built four content pillars to focus all of the company’s content output, and 100% align with the overall business strategy.
Challenge
- Merge Plymouth Rock’s state-based blogs into an enterprise digital property and substantially grow engagement.
Solution
- Informed the design of a new blog to leverage existing evergreen content, reduce the demand for new content and allow the blog team to work more efficiently after the launch.
- Coordinated with the company’s SEO strategist to move more than 400 blog posts while maintaining natural search power.
- Developed the company’s first ever content strategy to manage and grow the blog.
- Created and managed an editorial calendar, distribution plan, audience development, and “day two” optimization initiatives.
- Enhanced the sophistication of blog topic selection by using tools like Google Trends, Google Correlate and social media testing.
Result
- In the first year under my management, the newly developed blog grew page views 390% over the previous year’s combined metrics for the state-based blogs, and set a substantially higher record for comments received on individual posts.
- Also in the first year, I produced 42 blog posts and directed a team that produced an additional 46 blog posts.
Challenge
- Develop content that positions Plymouth Rock as an authority and earns media attention.
Solution
- Created an original market research survey that directly relates to the company’s brand expertise. In this case, driving in New Jersey.
- Contracted with a professional survey sample provider to poll 1,000 New Jersey drivers.
- Analyzed survey results to produce an interesting and engaging narrative
- Created customized media pitches for local outlets across the state and wrote content to drive traffic to the company’s blog.
- Developed strategic messaging for media interviews.
Result
- I secured two separate radio interviews and acted as a company spokesman for both. The first was part of NJ 101.5’s news updates and aired approximately 8 times over the course of one day.
- The second was an extended interview during drive time hours on WDHA 105.5. In both instances, there was a companion online piece, which included a link to the Plymouth Rock blog.
